Caffeine and Critique Beta Services
What is Beta Reading?
Beta Reading is when an author or professional reader gives constructive feedback about a manuscript or any piece of work that a writer needs or wants to workshop. A beta reader may find grammatical errors in a manuscript but that is not their main goal. The focused objective of a beta reader is to look at the structure and content of a manuscript. They will give feedback about what is working, where the magic is, and they will also tell a writer what needs to be reworked or where they might want to take a closer look.

What services do I offer?
Abbreviated Beta Read
An abbreviated beta read is a half page-full page write up about your project or manuscript. I will read the piece once and give my initial impressions/ bulleted lists of feedback. This option is great for someone who feels that their work is almost finished and simply wants to make sure that their final piece is as polished as it can be.
Price: $50 - 60,000 words and below
$80 - 60,001 words and above
Full Beta Read
A full beta read includes comments throughout the manuscript. If I catch any grammatical errors or spelling mistakes, I will also include those in my notes. I will ask questions throughout the reading. I will include resources for you to use in your future editing endeavors. You will receive a full write up and I will read your work closely, with attention to detail. I am not your editor. I will not be looking for grammar mistakes, as much as I will be looking at the content/plot.
Price: $15/ten thousand words
Example: 50,000 words
Book Weaver/Beta Expert
Do you have drafts of your book? Does it seem promising? Are you stuck and don't know where to go next?
The Beta Expert option might be for you. As an English teacher and creative writer, I know what it takes to write a book. If you need someone to work with you to finish your manuscript, I'm here for you. Again, we will not be focusing on grammar/spelling. We will be focusing on the art of the sentence. We will work on plot holes and character development. We will work together to finish a successful final draft that can be sent to an editor.
Do NOT choose this option if you are not ready for tough love and deadlines. Do not choose this option if you don't like constructive criticism. I will not always tell you what you want to hear but I will guide you to write to your potential.
